Our mate, referee Rosario Candela, will be running in the Boston Marathon on April 16th, 2012. Here is his entire letter:

Dear Friends and Family,

I will be running in the Boston Marathon on April 16th 2012 .
More than 25 million people are affected by liver disease. Not all liver disease is caused by excessive alcohol consumption. Liver disease can result from a variety of sources such as viruses, genetics, reactions to drugs/chemicals, or simple bad luck.

Here are 10 Ways to Love Your Liver:
- Avoid taking unnecessary medications
- Do not mix alcohol with drugs & medications
- Be careful what you breathe (the liver filters these chemicals too)
- Watch what gets on your skin; harmful chemicals can damage the liver through skin
- Get a blood test to determine if you could be a carrier of Hepatitis B or C
- Eat a well-balanced diet from the four food groups
- Exercise at least 2-3 days per week
- See you doctor regularly for check-ups
- Sign up to be an organ donor

The money I raise will be allocated for liver disease research, education for this community and advocacy for individuals living with liver disease. Participating on this team is not only motivating and fun, but it gives me a wonderful feeling to dedicate my training to such a great cause. My connection to the cause, and to the patients in need of help, will help make my 26.2 run an even greater accomplishment.
